How to Price UGC (User Generated Content)

The biggest mistake new UGC creators make is charging a flat rate for a video without understanding how the brand intends to use it. A brand posting your video organically on their TikTok page is very different from a brand spending $100,000 to run your face as a paid ad.

1. Base Organic Rate

This is the cost to conceptualize, film, and edit a single 15 to 60-second video. This covers your labor and the final deliverable. It only gives the brand the right to post the video organically to their own social media feed.

2. Usage Rights (Paid Ads)

If a brand wants to use your video in a paid ad campaign (Facebook Ads, TikTok Ads), they must pay for "Usage Rights." The industry standard is to charge an additional 20% to 30% of your Base Rate per month of usage. If they want perpetual (forever) usage, you should charge 100% to 200% of your base rate.

3. Raw Footage

Brands often ask for the raw, unedited footage so their internal editing team can splice your clips with other creators, or test different hooks. Never give this away for free. Raw footage allows them to make 10 different videos out of your 1 video. Charge an extra 50% of your base rate.

4. Whitelisting / Spark Ads

Whitelisting (or TikTok Spark Ads) means the brand is running paid ads through your social media handle. This looks more authentic to viewers. Because they are leveraging your audience and personal brand equity, you should charge an additional monthly fee, similar to Usage Rights.
